Please share a memory of Pauline to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
LEVY, Pauline "Polly" Age 86 -passed away peacefully December 17, 2013, at the Mira Nursing Home in Truro. Pauline was born on April 8, 1927, in East Uniacke where she was raised by her parents, the late Mosher and Ada Johnston, and remained a life-long resident. As a young woman, Pauline went away to work in Ellershouse and Halifax. She later married the love of her life, the late Milton Levy, raised her family, cared for her mother, and worked at the Wandlyn for many years.
Pauline's greatest love was her husband and family. She was a devoted Mom to 7 children, Nan to 14 grandchildren, and Great Nan to 11 great-grandchildren. She was passionate about children and animals. She took tremendous pride in her home and family and always had an open door, fresh baked pie or bread, and a hot cup of tea to welcome family or friends. She would always find time for a game of 45's or to watch her Blue Jays play a ball game. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the light of her life. Pauline's generous heart and compassionate soul touched the lives of everyone who had the privilege to know her. She truly treasured every picture, card, craft, or gift she received and would never hesitate to give of herself.
She was an extraordinarily kind and selfless woman who will be dearly missed by all who knew her and especially in the hearts and memories of her children: Linda (Dave) Bourne, Hantsport; Bev (Dave) Morgan, East Uniacke; Sheila (Mark) Gilby, Nine Mile River; Darlene (Dennis) Pettipas, Beaverbank; Larry (Rhonda) Levy, East Uniacke; Sherri (Charles) Bennett; 14 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; brother Josh Johnston; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Mosher and Ada (Patriquin) Johnston, brothers, Ray and Willie Johnston, son Earl (Dougie) Levy.
Visitation will be from 7-9 p.m. on Thursday at Ettinger Funeral Home, 2812 Highway 2, Shubenacadie from where funeral service will be held 2pm Friday, Rev. Canon David Fletcher officiating. Burial to follow in St. Paul's Cemetery in Center Rawdon. Donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Society of Nova Scotia.
