Obituary of Ida Evelyn Dillman
DILLMAN, Ida E – of Enfield, passed away peacefully on July 21, 2022, in the QEll Health Centre, Halifax, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Chaswood on August 2, 1932, she was eldest daughter of the late Ernest and Agnes (Muise) Malay.
Ida moved to Enfield at the age of 11, where she met the love of her life. They would eventually marry and start their family. Her greatest joy in life was family. She loved to look after her children as well as others, including caring for her grandchildren. She was a loving mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and friend, who always put others ahead of herself. Her strength, courage and generosity were evident to everyone who knew her. She lived a full and active life until 2020 when COVID forced her to be housebound. This had a significant impact on her from which she did not recover. Ida was a devote catholic who served St. Bernard’s parish in Enfield for 60 + years in numerous capacities.
Ida is survived by her loving husband of 73 years, Wilfred; sons, Douglas (Marie), Leonard (Elizabeth), Ernest, John (Janette); daughters, Sandra (Kerry), Michele (Rick); grandchildren, Natasha, Melissa, Stephanie, Samantha, Tanya, Allen, Jena, Jennifer, Justin, Steven, Amanda, Kyle, Matthew; great grandchildren, Ariella, Jayne, Mitchell, Willow, Camden, Jessie, Addison, Ellie, Emery, Nicholas, Jacob, Kayden, Jaxon, Brooklyn, Aurora; sister, Rachael Jollimore.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her son, David; brother, John and special brother-in-law Frank Jollimore.
Visitation will be 6-8pm, Monday, July 25, 2022 in the Ettinger Funeral Home, 860 Highway 2, Elmsdale with funeral service 11 am, Tuesday, July 26, 2022, in St. Bernard’ s Roman Catholic Church, Enfield.
