Obituary of Marie Dickie

DICKIE, Marie Agnes Died on December 26, 2013 at the Dartmouth General Hospital. Marie was born in Boston on April 8, 1926. She was the daughter of Guy and Evelyn (Grant) Dickie. As a young child she came to Nova Scotia when her parents returned to their home community at Lower Meagher's Grant, which was her home at the time of her death. Her working career was mainly secretarial in nature and began in Ottawa at the Department of Agriculture, and back in Nova Scotia at a legal firm, manufacturing and fish processing plants in Halifax and Truro. In retirement she found much enjoyment attending card and bingo games with her group of also retired friends. She is survived by her sister Ruth (Cameron) Allen, nieces Jennifer Allen-Barron, Jane Allen, Lisa McCabe, nephews Andrew and Ian Allen, six grand-nieces and a grand-nephew, her brother-in-law Robert McCabe and his wife Bonnie McCabe, who came to be her trusted, loyal and helpful friend. She was predeceased by, besides her parents, her sisters Phyllis Dickie and Patricia McCabe and nephew Michael McCabe. A gathering to celebrate Marie's life will be held on Monday, December 30th from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Meagher's Grant Fire Hall. Cremation has taken place. Burial will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Meagher's Grant Cemetery Maintenance Fund, the Heart and Stroke Foundation, or any charity of your choice, will be appreciated.
