Obituary of Shirley Graham
Please share a memory of Shirley to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
GRAHAM (McMullen), Shirley May (Bunny) Age 78, of Enfield passed away on Thursday, January 2, 2014 at home surrounded by her loving family, following a brief battle with cancer. Born in Halifax she was the eldest daughter of the late Herbert and Lydia McMullen. Shirley had been employed with H.H. Marshalls from 1953 - 1980. She had also been employed by Hertz Rent-A-Car at the Halifax Airport for several years. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Vernon E. Graham, mother Lydia McMullen, father Herbert McMullen and brother, Herbert (Herbie) McMullen. Mom's day started with an early morning drive to Tim Horton's for a double single. She was an avid camper at Stewiacke River Park. Her love was Elvis and Blue Grass music, curling, figure skating and hockey (she especially enjoyed watching her grandsons play). Mom also enjoyed knitting and crocheting. Her biggest passion in life was baking and the pleasure she received from sharing her baked goods with family and friends. It was not an uncommon sight to see mom coming down the aisles of the Guardian Drug Store or through the doctor's office doors bringing baked goods to her pharmacist, her doctor or anyone else she felt should have some. She was a very generous person to a fault, always willing to give of herself and asked nothing in return. Family was always first for mom. Mom is survived by her children: Linda (Dana) Osborne of Grand Lake, Brenda Graham of Lantz, Darrell Graham of Enfield, Larry (Mary) Graham of Kennetcook and Shawna (John) Hiltz of Milford. Grandchildren: Ian Osborne (Kailey Hilchie) of Alberta, Jamie Osborne of Maine/Grand Lake, Kenny (Nadine) Gaudet of Brookfield, Danielle Graham (Brent Macinnis) of Bedford, Shawn Graham (Lisa Slaunwhite) of Enfield, Travis (Stephanie) Graham of Windsor Junction, Andrew Snow of Oakfield and Carter and Mallory Graham of Kennetcook. Great Grandchild: Bailey Graham of Enfield. Sister Elsie (Burtis) Lively of Lake Echo, brothers Gordon (Sandy) McMullen of Alberta, Bill (Lillian) McMullen of Enfield and Harry (Kelly) McMullen of Enfield. Mom will be dearly missed by her lifelong friend, Lorraine Corkum of Enfield, and companion Clyde Beaver of Ontario, and all the lives she touched over the years. She will be missed by her dog Teddy. We would like to thank the staff at the QEII, Floor 7.2, Halifax Infirmary 8th Floor and Dr. Dunbar for their constant care and compassion for Mom and our family. Her VON and Home Care teams went above and beyond in the care they provided to our mom, showing the utmost compassion while providing the highest quality of service to her. This care was made personal by all who tended to her. The family extends a special thank-you to Dawn Martell, Dr. Henderson with Palliative Care; and to Pastor Beth Brehaut. Sincere thanks go to her many family and friends who telephoned; sent cards or visited Mom during her time in the hospital and last two months at home. The remains are resting at Ettinger Funeral Home in Shubenacadie. Visitation on Monday, January 6, 2014 from 6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. at Ettinger Funeral Home, 2812 Highway #2, Shubenacadie.
