CALDWELL, Ian Ross - 81, Fort Ellis, passed away January 22, in the Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Born in Hardwood Lands, he was the son of the late Harold Ross and Lillias Dickie (MacDonald) Caldwell. Ian tried many different occupations in his life time. He was one of the last truckers to haul milk to Halifax in thirty two quart cans, besides that he hauled hay, hogs and cattle. He drove oil tankers and freight. Ian loved to study maps along with his collection of puzzles. He built two houses. After his serious heart problems Ian turned his interest to wood working, creating many beautiful pieces of lawn furniture. Ian is survived by his wife of 61 years, Jean Elizabeth (MacKay) Caldwell; sons Harold (Alice), Earl (JoAnn), Brian Caldwell; daughter Karen (Bert) Baxter; grandchildren Steven, Sandra, Sheila and Sarah; great grandchildren Jordan, Serenity and Nevaeh; sisters Eleanore (Cliff) Turner, Margaret (Milton) Conlin; several nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by a sister Flora Schumacher. Cremation has taken place under the care of Ettinger Funeral Home, Shubenacadie. A spring committal service for family and friends will take place in Brookside Cemetery, Mill Village at a later date.
