Obituary of Charles Wyman Fullerton

FULLERTON, Charles “Charlie” Wyman - age 84, of Enfield, formerly of Grand Lake, passed away at the Colchester East Hants Health Centre on March 23, 2024. Born in Barrington Passage, he was the son of the late Bentley and Bessie (Akerley) Fullerton.

Charlie was a lifelong musician who played various stringed instruments including guitar, bass guitar, steel guitar and mandolin. He managed some country bands and played in many others over the years. He had many friends across Nova Scotia and was recognized for his commitment to music. He was one of the founders of the Nova Scotia Bluegrass Festival and Oldtime Music Festival. A skilled player of bridge and lover of chocolate, dogs and gatherings of friends and family especially if playing music was involved. Charlie lived with his mom in Grand Lake and for years was chauffeur for both her and her sister, Mary, who lived in Wellington. Often, they would take day trips to Peggy’s Cove or other local sites.

Charlie is survived by his brothers; Rod, Rick (Phyllis); sister-in-law; Nancy; and many nieces and nephews. Charlie was predeceased by his parents; his sister, Peg and brother-in-law, Bill Preeper; infant brother, James; brother, Bentley; sister-in-law, Janet Fullerton. 

A celebration of Charlie’s life will occur on May 11, 2024, from 1:00 to 4:00pm at the old Grand Lake Fire Hall, 22 Lakeside Drive, Grand Lake, NS. All are welcome to come to share stories and music. Please, if you are able, bring an instrument, lend your voice, and make some music in his honor.
