Obituary of Ruby Frances Piccott
Ruby was born and raised in Halifax where she attended QEH and met her life long best friend Nadine. Ruby started her adult life working as a meat packer at the IGA in Spryfield. Ruby worked for the Provincial Government in probate court for several years. At the age of 30 Ruby found her true calling as a nurse and she decided to apply and go into training to be an RN. She worked as a part time casual for several years in various hospitals around NS. Ruby eventually took a position working in the geriatric unit at the hospital in Saint John NB. Ruby made many friends along the way and was very involved with her church. Ruby’s passions were caring for others and knitting. There were many pairs of socks and thrummed mittens made for others over the years. When you saw Ruby it wasn’t often that she wasn’t knitting for a friend or someone in need. Ruby is survived by sisters Vivian Laybolt and Sarah (Sally) Robinson (Ivan), brother in law Doug Thomas, best friend Nadine Heisler, many nieces and nephews and her chosen family in Milford.
Besides her parents she was predeceased by her sister Dorothy (Dot) Thomas.
We would like to thank the staff from Milford EHS and the Colchester East Hants Health Center on D3 for all the care and compassion in Ruby’s final days.
