CHAMBERS, (Whitney), Margaret Jessie - 95, Carrolls Corner, NS, formerly of Lower Sackville, NS passed away March 27th,2014 in the Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro with her family by her side. Raised in Halls Harbour, Margaret was the daughter of the late Frank and Jessie Whitney. Margaret proudly graduated from the Grace Maternity School of Nursing in 1940. Shortly after beginning her nursing career she married her husband Thomas, a Halifax Police Officer. Together they operated Hillcrest Memorial Gardens and were involved in Standardbred Harness Racing for many years. Margaret was a beautiful woman inside and out. She had a magical way of making everyone she knew feel special. She was generous, kind hearted and full of adventure. She was happiest when surrounded by her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Margaret was like a mother to many who were welcomed into her home over the years. She loved shoes, animals, knitting, painting, music, playing the piano and driving. She was always young at heart. Margaret was predeceased by her husband Thomas Leo Chambers, siblings, Gerald (Myrtle) Whitney; Doris (John) MacDonald, Lewis (Myrtis) Whitney and Gladys (Paul) Gervason, all of Halls Harbour, NS. She is survived by her children Paul (Wilma) Chambers, Delaware, USA; Thomas Chambers, Carroll's Corner; Jessie MacDonald , Halifax and Frank (Debbie) Chambers, Hammonds Plains. She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren, Shelley, Leigh-Anne, Colleen and Stuart (Meghan) Chambers, Jacqui (Matt) McNeil, Tanya (Roger) Spriggs, Joe (Annie) Jones and Kimberley Chambers. She adored her seven great grandchildren - Sophie, Emily, Caden, Drew, Nash, Laila and Ryder and all of her many nieces and nephews. Special thanks to the Doctors and Team of the Palliative Care Unit of the Colchester East Hants Hospital for the exceptional care given to Margaret and our Family this past week . Special thanks also to her wonderful friends and neighbours. Visitation will be held 2-4 & 6-8pm Sunday at Ettinger's Funeral Home, 2812 Highway 2, Shubenacadie. Funeral Service will take place 11am, Monday at Saint Marguerite Bourgeoys Parish (St. James site) 1274 Hammonds Plains Road, Hammonds Plains. Fr. Joseph McKinnon officiating. Interment will be at a later date in Halls Harbour, NS. Memorial Donations may be made to Colchester East Hants Hospice Society or the IWK Health Centre Foundation.
