ASHLEY, Grace Elizabeth, age 92 of Truro/ Elmsdale passed away July 24, 2013 in Cedarstone Enhanced Care, Truro. Born in Elmsdale she was the daughter of the late Maynard Gilby and Olive (MacDonald) (Gilby) Barron. She was a member of St. Matthew's Church, the former Guild and the Elmsdale Senior Group. She made many longtime friends during her lifetime and as an employee of Grossmen's General Store, Elm Ave and Elm Leaf Farms, Oakfield Golf and Country Club and Tidal Credit Union. She enjoyed traveling, camping, bowling, reading and doing handicrafts. She is survived by her daughter Sheila Hamilton, Truro; grandchildren William Hamilton, Truro, Michael Thomson(Susan) Seattle (and their children MacQuarrie and Mitchell); Shawn Thomson, Lantz; brother Donald (Patsy) Gillis, Elmsdale. She was predeceased by her husband Oscar Ashley, son Lorne Ashley, grandson Derek Thomson, daughter in-law Karen (Miller)(Ashley) Thomson; brothers Stewart Gilby, Donald Barron, Jackie Barron, Everett Barron and one in infancy, step father Harry Barron. Visitation will be 7-9pm Thursday in the Ettinger Funeral Home, Shubenacadie, from where a funeral will be held 2pm Friday, Rev. Jacquie Ross officiating. Interment will be in the Elmsdale Cemetery, Elmsdale. No flowers please, memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice.
