My Dear Joan & Family: I had the privilege of spending many hours with your mum while visiting my beloved mother at Serinity. Mum and Marie loved to sing and knew the lyrics to every old-time tune out there. Marie certainly was an inspiration to us all…she was such an upbeat, positive person, and I never heard her complain, although she certainly had the right to. I know she endured pain, however, she just bared it and was just content to sing and laugh. I came to love your mum and will miss seeing her smiling face when I go over to visit the girls. The world should have more individuals like Marie ! God Bless you Marie and I hope you and mum are up there singing like the Angels you are!

Patti, Peter, Joan, and Joey It was a pleasure having your mother in my life. I have to say that she was the most positive, supportive, honest, resilient and the kindest person I have ever met. I will miss our morning song together...."Hey Diddle Diddle". We would sing this every morning before breakfast and then we would have a good laugh. No one made me laugh the way your mother did. Sometimes we would laugh until we cried. Marie, my heart has been forever touched by you. With love, Donna

It was with great sadness that I heard of Marie's passing while on vacation and unable to attend her funeral. I was blessed to work with her at Serenity Lodge. She was a shinning example of God's love and mercy, she did everything with a kind heart. For those that didn't know, Marie lived with pain each and every day yet she remained positive and upbeat throughout. She was a true disciple showing love and joy to all those who crossed her path. Marie had a true love for music. Many folks were suprised when they looked at her bent and crippled form and then heard her sing with such a beautiful voice. Marie so loved "Thursdays" that was our day for Serenity Lodge to head to the Senior Social . It was an afternoon filled with song, music and friendship and, as Marie often said , a great lunch to eat as well ! Marie, I will so so miss you. You filled my "work" days with joy and laughter. We enjoyed our lexicons, reading the news headlines, and singing along to the oldies. She sang "Put me in your pocket" and now Al will be holding her hand and singing along with her. Rest in peace my darling Marie.

I am so sorry to hear of Marie's passing. I used to work with her at serenity lodge. She was always happy. We all shared so many laughs with Marie. She was always up for a dance, song, or joke. Marie I can still hear you singing " put me in your pocket and ill be close to you" ;). You were definitely an inspiration to all who were lucky enough to meet you. Love ya Marie ....

Patti, Peter, Joan, & Joey: Learned this morning of your mother's passing. She was always such an upbeat person even after your father's and Darryl's passing. Just a few days ago I was reminiscing with my brother, Carl, about the days I spent on your living room floor in Grand Lake playing a form of floor hockey. I most distinctly recall the Peterborough Petes. You have lost a resilient and resourceful mother. My sincere condolences to all of you.
