HI I would like to share a short story of Earl.
I was a new leader of the Hardwoodlands woodsmen team and didn't know much about it ,so I seeked out help and Earl Tanner was the person I was told to see.
I called Earl and he was more than happy to help.First he came to our practices to give the group of kids pointers on how to run crosscut saws, pulp saws and offered some of his own gear. After a couple of years of sharpening our saws he thought it was time that I learned ,He was very patient .
I had a conversation with Earl about an upcoming event and the competion had racing saws and we only had everyday crosscut saws Earl said " Thats like taking a Chevette to race a Corvette !" and proceded to donate enough hardwood for us to sell, so we could buy a racing saw . Thanks to Earl we eventually won the provincial championship.
Earl will be sadly missed by all and especially the Harwoodlands 4 H club .

Linda, Robert and Family, Please accept my sincere sympathy on the death of your Dad. Earle was my friend, as well as a wonderful mentor for me, as I fumbled my way into Forestry. His "kind" spirit allowed his wisdom and his extensive depth of knowledge flow so easily, although unbeknownst to him. Earle has planted an awful lot of seeds with his passion of forest husbandry, his Spirit will live on for generations to come.
