All of us at British Cycle Supply are saddened to hear of Jim's passing. I have memories of vainly trying to keep up with him on my motorcycle on a winding road years ago, and of his careful attention to detail in his cycle restorations. I truly hope they have motorcycles in heaven! Our thoughts are with his family at this time. With sorrow, Mark, and the British Cycle Supply staff

Jim was a great guy and a wealth of information on motorcycles. What he didn't know about bikes wasn't worth knowing. He was the ONLY person I ever let rid my 1947 Indian Chief. My sincere condolences to his family on his loss.

I would like to send my deepest sympathy to the family of Jim. I first met Jim when he came to our house with my brother Ken. His smile was infectious, and he was such a kind, caring man. He will be missed and remembered by many. I am so sorry for your great loss.

My deepest sympathy to the Isaac family. Jim was one of the best high school pals a guy could ever want and a true gentleman. I find my thoughts full of happy memories of the motorcycle adventures and misadventures that we shared together. We were both air cadets as well. I still have the Bultaco motorcycle that Jim and I traded ownership on over the years. Words simply fail me to describe what a truly outstanding person so many of us have had the pleasure to know. Jim was simply "The Best"

I extend my sympathy to Jim's family. We both rode the National Motorcycle trial in Montreal in 1967 and I bought, from him in the late /80s the Cotton Trials bike which I believe he rode at that event. As I moved from Halifax in 1953 we never got to spend time together but had many common friends and they all spoke highly of him. Godspeed Jim. Gerry, Montreal

I first met Jim in the mid 1980's as a member of the Atlantic Vintage Motorcycle Society, and over the years came to know him as a skilled and talented motorcycle restorer, and a fountain of knowledge. His tales of his early exploits and adventures in motorcycling were always entertaining, told in a matter of fact, humble manner that we knew to be a true sign of his character. He will be missed and remembered by all of us that knew him and joined in his adventures and rides.

Jimmy: I can see you now smiling and full of the energy that made Gail and Allison so happy. You are one of the few in my minds eye. You made Aunt Hazel and I happy too, standing with me at our wedding, our many visits, and happy times. Your in-laws Edith and Ralph are waiting in heaven for you. I know that your family will miss you very much especially Gail and Allison and the grandchildren. I wish you peace and rest, which comes to us all. You were one special man and we will miss you. Condolences, Philip William Merkel

I had the great pleasure of knowing Jim for a few years in the late 80's and early 90's when we worked together at DRVS (NSCC - Akerley). He was one of those amazing and rare people who could share so much while saying very little. Through the years since, I've always admired his optimism, his caring, but perhaps mostly his ability to get so much out of his wide range of life experiences. I've also met some of his biker friends independently, and they speak of him exactly the same way. An amazing guy! My deepest condolences to the family.

My deepest sympathy to Jim's family at this difficult time. You don't know me I feel certain but Jim and I were apprentices together at the Dockyard. I was a year ahead of Jim. I am from North Sydney and lived there till I was 20. I can't remember Jim ever telling me he was also from North Sydney. I assume he left there early in life. Jim was one of the nicest people I met at the Dockyard. So clean cut with the big smile that could put anyone at ease. Treated everyone with respect with a quite easy going manner and a quick wit. Jim gave me a ride on one of his first motorcycles and I'll never forget his glee when he lifted the front wheel off the pavement, laughed and said he didn't mean to do it. I also remember how proud he was of that motorcycle. We all have folks that we meet in life that leave a very deep impression. Jim was certainly one of those for me. I was only around Jim for a few short years and that was my lost for it not being longer. Again condolences to all Jim's family and may he rest in peace. Tom W.
