Obituary of Robert Brush
Please share a memory of Robert to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
BRUSH, Reverend Robert Heywood - 72, Windsor. Robert was a special man who always had a smile, a twinkle in his eye and a wry sense of humour. Robert taught grade 6 and was an elementary school principal for 36 years. He created a desire in his students to read by reading to them The Hobbit, changing his voice for each character. Now grown, students still remember him for this. Robert loved teaching. Deeply spiritual, Robert finally acknowledged our Lord's call to serve and was ordained an Anglican Priest. He was a faithful servant bringing humour, spirituality and meaning to his sermons and a sacredness to his liturgical celebrations. Before he died he received many cards and emails with a shared memory of how he had affected that person causing him to both cry and smile. He was humbled by the outpouring of love showered upon him in his last few weeks, a priceless and most precious gift for him. Robert had great compassion for animals giving sanctuary and love to many over the years. This one remaining faithful Labrador "Bilbo" lies on his slippers, subdued, quietly waiting for his beloved friend to come home. Our hearts ache at loss of the light and love of our lives but his memory remains through the love of his Lord, his garden, his woods, his books and especially his wife and children. Robert requested no visitation, but asks that you visit someone you care about now before that opportunity is lost forever. A funeral service will be held 11 am, Thursday, May 30, 2013 at the church of The Apostles (formerly St. Phillips), Reverend Mark Marshall officiating assisted by the Most Reverend Archbishop Arthur Peters. A Committal will be at a later date. Family flowers only memorial donations may be made to your church or the SPCA. Robert said "I hope I did well for God" -We believe that he did.
"Goodnight Sweet Prince."
