Please share a memory of Roberta to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
BIHEL, Roberta Deidre Marie “Bobbie” – age 49 of Shubenacadie, passed away peacefully in her home on March 13, 2017. Born and raised in the Scottish Borders in the town of Selkirk, she was a treasured daughter of Nick and Heather (Ross) Bihel.
Bobbie is survived by her loving son, Nicholas Comeau, age 17. She also enjoyed a close relationship with her sisters, Nicole Robertson Bihel, Virginia Carey and Mary Power and with her beloved Uncle Rob Webster.
Her passing comes with great loss to all who knew her. Bobbie was born at Viewfield Cottage Hospital in Selkirk on 23rd December 1967. She attended Philiphaugh Primary School and Selkirk High School before embarking on her nursing career, studying at the Scottish Borders College of Nursing, going on to work at the Peel Hospital and Borders General Hospital. Bobbie had a love of the Selkirk Common Riding and like many “Souters” born in Selkirk, she returned as often as possible to take part. Bobbie arrived in Canada in the early 90’s and took on citizenship soon after. She continued a successful career in nursing as an RN. She worked for many years as a cardiac care nurse and through her work, assisted in the direct care and healing of countless patients. She was a passionate care-giver who understood the importance of building relationships with those in her care. Her interests included riding horses, visiting sunny places and enjoying the company of friends over a delicious meal and a fine wine. Her passion for animals is recognised in the fact that she adopted cats with feline leukaemia. She was a proud Scot who respectfully exercised her self-confidence. Her son Nicholas will always remember the loving care of his Mother and the pride she took in calling him her son.
