CROWELL, Wallace Bernard - 85, Maitland/Brookfield, it is with great sadness that the family of Wallace Bernard Crowell, announce his passing on April 22, 2013 at Elk Court, Brookfield where he received excellent care and compassion from the staff. Wallace was a resident of Maitland for many years. Prior to making his home in Maitland with his sister Jean, he lived in the Truro area. Wally was a Merchant Marine Seaman serving Canada during WWII. He was a man of few words with a kind and gentle soul. He is survived by sisters Mattie MacElmon, Debert; Evelyn Lamond, Glace Bay and Jean Patterson, Maitland; his extended Bernard family and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his mother Mattie (Crowell) Carter and step-father Harding Carter, brothers Ray and Phillip, long time companion Mary Bernard. No visitation by request, funeral services will be held at 2 pm, Thursday in Ettinger Funeral Home, 2812 Highway 2, Shubenacadie, Rev. Marilyn MacDonald officiating. A private interment in Oak Island Cemetery, Maitland. Family flowers only, memorial donations in Wally's memory may be made to Oak Island Cemetery.
