Obituary of Sharon Ann MacAskill
Please share a memory of Sharon to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
MacAskill (Singer), Sharon Ann- age 59, of Gore, passed away peacefully July 12, 2017 in the Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Born in Windsor, she was a daughter of the late Albro and Minnie Carmenia (Cleveland) Singer. Sharon realized that success in life is not about accumulations but about living and giving. Sharon’s laughter and humor was something that has brought joy to many! She was a loving proud mother to Kim and Gary. She had a caring personality that instilled a courage that took her to take on training as a professional caregiver in her forties. Sharon was committed to realizing her goal to live her life with confidence and purpose, being all she was meant to be. Sharon served her clients diligently with loving compassion as a personal care worker for 17 years at the Ivy Meadows, Scotia Nursing Home in Beaverbank. Although looking after clients was her vocation, Sharon was a loving person and she naturally cared for everyone in her life, all her friends and family. She enjoyed Sunday night bingo, always grateful for her luck! An amazing cook, generously she loved to share her creative treats with us all.
Sharon met life’s challenges head on and had a resilience that built strength to deal with adversity. Faith and hope gave Sharon a will to endure through quite a journey with her family these past three years! Sharon was grateful to each member of her family, friends, medical team, and community for their loving support through it all. She will be greatly missed by the greatest joys of her life; her husband, Randy, daughter, Kim, grandchildren, Alayna, Nolan, Shane and Charles; sister, Doreen Boutilier, Ardoise; brother, Tony (Sandra), Kennetcook; her many in-laws; numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by son, Gary (2016), sisters, Opal, Doris, Joyce, Phyllis, Ivy, Sheila and Myrna Alice in infancy; brothers, Don, Gordon, Sam and Currie.
Visitation will be held 6-8pm, Sunday with a funeral service 2 pm, Monday both in Ettinger Funeral Home, 2812 Highway 2, Shubenacadie, Pastor Keith MacAskill officiating. Family flowers only.
