Bilby, Edna Mae – 84, Maitland, Hants County, passed away peacefully yet suddenly on September 22, 2017 in Vimy Court, Bible Hill.
Born in Maple Grove, she was a daughter of the late Leslie and Gladys (Cook-Royles) Hennigar. Edna weighed only 2 pounds at birth, and so her resilience was developed from a very young age. Edna worked for 22 years at Frieze & Roy’s store in Maitland. She was well known for safely shipping fine china across Canada. She loved people and was generous with her time, attention and affection. She enjoyed baking and made wonderful baked beans and bread. She was dedicated to her community and her church and always lent a hand in any fundraising or activity, often without being asked. Mom had a quick and kind wit. She always saw the silver lining in any situation and the good in all people. She was dedicated to her family and her home was a welcoming place to anyone who needed anything.
She is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Ralph; her children, Diane; Wade (Rizalina), Jeffrey; grandchildren, Robert (Kathleen) and Michael Lowe, Jacob and Reyna Mae Bilby; great granddaughter, Mya; one brother, Jerry (Geraldine); one sister, Barbara (Gordon) Pratt; many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She came from a very large family and was predeceased by many brothers and sisters.
Visitation will be held 7-9pm Wednesday, September 27 in Ettinger Funeral Home, 2812 Highway 2, Shubenacadie. Funeral Service will be 2pm Thursday, September 28 in Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Maitland, Rev. Gloria McClure- Fraser officiating. Interment to follow in the church cemetery.
