Obituary of John Fraser Young

Young, John Fraser – age 72, of Enfield, formerly of Pictou, passed away peacefully in The Magnolia Continuing Care, Enfield on February 28, 2020.
Born in Pictou, he was a son of the late Dr. Fraser and Kathleen (Pope) Young. John was a gifted artist. He graduated from the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design. In the early 70’s, he worked as an instructor of drawing, as an artist in the NSCAD printshop, and worked as a curator of exhibitions for various institutions. He was the youngest recipient of a Canada Council Grant.
Unfortunately, early in his life he became hampered by health issues including a struggle with Crohn's Disease. John was fond of music and reading, two passions he shared with his family.
He is survived by his two sons, Orrin and Alexander, both of Halifax; grandchildren, Carol Anne Young and Henry Gordon Young of North Sydney; his former wife, Sarah Archibald, Halifax; his brother, David, Pictou, nieces, Robin MacLean, Halifax; Lee MacLean, Montreal; Alix MacLean, Ottawa; Kerry MacLean, Halifax; Jill Young, Halifax; and nephew, Jonathan Young, Brussels.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by sister, Kathleen Young MacLean; brother, Gerry.

Arrangements are under the direction of Ettinger Funeral Home, Shubenacadie. A private service will take place at a later date.
