Obituary of Harold Joseph Gray

GRAY, Harold Joseph- age 91 of Enfield, passed away peacefully March 10,2020 in Northwood Long Term Care Centre, Halifax. Born in Halifax, he was a son of the late Harold and Mary (Whalen) Gray.
As a young man, Hal was well known in the Halifax area for his athleticism having played on several championship teams; hockey, baseball and basketball, including the Oxford Athletic Club (baseball) as national runners up. Hal served as a leading aircraftman with the Royal Canadian Air Force from 1956 – 1959 being stationed in Burnaby, BC and Fort Churchill, MB. In later life, he became an active member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Enfield Branch # 133. The majority of Hal’s working career was spent with Equifax, Dartmouth as an insurance investigator for 36 years. Hal will be fondly remembered for many things but none more than the times at the family cottage on Grand Lake where many memories were made.
Hal is survived by sons, Patrick (Bonnie), Wellington; Brian (Rebecca), Herring Cove; Darby (Monique), Fletcher’s Lake; Matthew (Amanda), Wellington; grandchildren, Keegan, Brody, Joshua, Brittany, Shelby, Riley and Bailey Gray; Andrew, Alysha, and Ben Nelson; Amie Smart; great grandchild, Patrick.
Harold was predeceased by his wife, Noreen and his brother, Patrick.
Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Ettinger Funeral Home, Shubenacadie. A family graveside service will take place at a later date.
The family wishes to thank the staff, nurses and personal care workers of Northwood Manor, especially the 9M Unit for their exceptional care and kindness given to Dad.
