Obituary of Robert Telder

TELDER, Robert- age 85, of Nine Mile River, passed away peacefully in the Halifax Infirmary Site, QEII Halifax.  Born in Amsterdam, Holland, he was a son of the late Willem and Elizabeth Telder.

Robert emigrated to Canada, following the Second World War.  He moved to Mineville and began working at Gabriel’s in Dartmouth.  It was at Gabriel’s where he met his future wife Barbara and they would build a home in Mineville on land given to them by Harm Bolhuis.  Robert was an electronics technician, he worked for Hewlett Packard, a job that would take he, Barbara and their young sons to Quebec for a couple of years.  They returned to Nova Scotia where Robert was employed at the IWK Hospital in Halifax, until his retirement.  Not one to be idle, Robert ran a successful Strawberry U-Pick and a winery, Telderberry Wines in Nine Mile River where he and his family had put down roots.

He will be sadly missed by his wife Barbara, sons Brian (Trish) Telder and Raymond Telder (Ann Marie Crossman), grandsons Benjamin (Dianna) Telder and Chris Telder; great grandchildren Shane, Jax, Aiden, Jesse and Penelope, brother Mike (Georgine) Telder, Oregon, USA, several nieces and nephews.

Cremation has taken place under the direction and care of Ettinger Funeral Home, Shubenacadie.  A celebration of Robert’s life will be held at a later date.
