Obituary of Goldie Margaret Holt
HOLT, Goldie Margaret-age 72 of Meagher’s Grant passed away at her daughters’ home in Truro after a lengthy illness. Born in Wyse’s Corner she was a daughter of the late Gordon and Laura (Dillman) Webber.
Goldie enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, sudoku and lexicons. She loved a good yard sale, watching Coronation Street, reminiscing over old photos and collecting earrings.
Goldie was a long-time employee at the Medical Records Department at the Victoria General Hospital, retiring in the late 90’s. She will long be remembered for her wonderful cooking and baking, especially her lasagnas. Her famous chocolates cakes that she baked for birthdays were known as “Goldie Cakes”. Her prized secret recipe for Jack Daniels barbeque sauce, which she gave as Christmas presents will be missed and her knitting “adventures’ won’t be forgotten. She enjoyed travelling, especially her trips to Korea and Poland. Goldie had a quiet but strong faith in prayer. She was a devoted caregiver and her strong determination was able to keep Donnie on home dialysis as long as possible.
Goldie will be sadly missed by her daughters, Anita Holt, Lac La Biche, AB; Treva Holt, Truro; grandson, Yong Joon Park, Edmonton, AB; sister, Vickie Dickie, Meaghers Grant; brother, Tom Webber, Enfield; several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Donnie and nephew, Joey Webber.
Cremation has taken place. Funeral service will be held 2pm Wednesday, October 7th in Ettinger Funeral Home, 2812 Highway 2, Shubenacadie; Rev. Martin Reid officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Canadian Red Cross, Canadian Cancer Society or Colchester East Hants Hospice Society.
