Obituary of Annie Roberta Rennie
RENNIE, Annie Roberta “Grammie”, age 90, of Selma, passed away February 13, 2021 in the Colchester East-Hants Health Centre, Truro. Born in Maitland, she was a daughter of the late Owen and Grace (Patterson) Barton.
Annie was an independent spirit, who lived much of her life in Selma, not far from her place of birth. She and Gerald would put in a large vegetable garden every year. She was known for her homemade bread and highly sought after pickles. Annie put tremendous effort into hosting her annual yard sales, in which she offered many of her creations. She had been the local Avon sales lady in the Maitland area for many years and enjoyed serving her customers. Annie loved playing Bingo, and would join friends at her local hall. She was a much-loved mother, grandmother and sister.
She will be sadly missed by her daughters, Sylvia (Eddy) Hatch, Selma; and Cyndy (John) Roy, Truro; daughter in-law, Cynthia Richards, Chipman, NB; grandchildren, Eddy Jr. Sherri, Vicki, Craig, Melissa, Chris and Kyle; numerous great-grandchildren and 1 great great-grandchild; sisters, Dorothy Burns and Geraldine Sugden; numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband Gerald “Grumpy”, son, Wayne Richards; great grandson Brandyn; and a brother, Donald Barton.
A visitation will be held 2-4 pm Wednesday February 17 in Ettinger Funeral Home, Shubenacadie – COVID-19 protocols will be in place, mask-use and social distancing will be in effect. Cremation to follow, a graveside service will be held at a later date.
