DILLMAN, Leonard William – age 79, of Rines Creek, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on August 5, 2021 in Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Born in Rines Creek, he was a son of the late Thomas and Lyla (Turple) Dillman.
Leonard started very young as a farmer by looking after his parent’s farm beginning at the age of 8. He was a very hard worker and eventually bought and ran his own beef farm. Not only did he run his own farm, he also worked full time for the Department of Transportation since the age of 15. Leonard loved horses, cows and working in the woods. Leonard was devoted to his family. When he married his wife Margaret, he also took on her 3 children as though they were his own. He enjoyed attending local exhibitions and especially watching the horse pulls. Leonard will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
Leonard is survived by his wife of 34 years, Margaret; children, Joseph (Kim), Jill (Frank), Jamie Annette (Kyle), Leonard “Buddy” (Stephanie); grandchildren, Joshua, Tristian, Paige, Derek, Amie, Hunter, Nick, Jeremy, Jakob; brother, Christopher “Keith” (Betty); sister, Marlene (Bill); many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by brothers, Ivan, Elwood; nephew, Christopher.
Cremation has taken place under the direction and care of Ettinger Funeral Home, Shubenacadie.
The family will have a gathering on the farm at a later date.
