Morris Brown 1940-2013
Moe was the third generation of his family to live on the Brown homestead in Mill Village/Shubenacadie, Hants County. He is predeceased by his parents Ruth and Calvin, by his partner Gail Scott, by his niece Sherry Brown, his nephew Ken Makhan, and his sister-in-law, Joan.
Moe enjoyed a distinguished career in journalism working as a reporter for The Times and Transcript in Moncton, New Brunswick, and as an editor for Canadian press in New York city and Toronto.
He was an active member of the NDP and worked tirelessly on press releases and campaigns for this region.
Moe will be greatly missed by his siblings Stephen Brown, Leonard Brown, and Rosemary Makhan as well as by special friends Elizabeth Taylor, Roxanne Hilchie, and Susan MacDonald; also by nephews Stevie and Dale Brown, nieces Shelley Gordon, Natalie Brown, and Candice Makhan.
We would like to thank the VON and the Palliative Care team for their caring support.
Moe will be lovingly remembered for his love of jazz, his quirky sense of humour, his special four legged friends, his picture printing endeavours, his love of good wine, and his encyclopedic contributions to any conversation.
Adieu but not goodbye!
There will be an informal Celebration of Moe's Life on Friday, December 6th from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at 3411 Indian Road. Please bring a favourite memory or photo for our Memory Box. No Flowers please. A donation may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, if you wish.
