Obituary of Thelma Dora Winton
WINTON (ASHLEY), Thelma Dora- age 94 of Lantz, passed away November 16, 2021 in the QEII Health Science Centre, Halifax Infirmary Site, Halifax. Born in Dutch Settlement, she was a daughter of the late Earl and Audrey (Isenor) Ashley.
Thelma thoroughly enjoyed going on fishing trips, camping, berry picking, playing bingo and cards. She also enjoyed knitting.
She and Robert enjoyed planting vegetable and flower gardens each year.
In her younger years, Thelma worked for Cara in the flight kitchen and airport dining room. She was also a consultant for Avon. Thelma was a resident of the Magnolia in Enfield for the past 5 years.
She will be sadly missed by daughters, Betty, Cathy (Vernon) and Jo-Anna (Brent); grandchildren, Kimberly (Dave), Stephanie (Steve), Ashley (Dan), Greg (Sara) and Kelly (Rob); 10 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren; brothers, Vernon, Dale and Lee; numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Robert, a daughter in infancy, grandson, Robbie; brothers, Ivan, Arnold and Malcolm; infant brother, Andrew.
A graveside service for family and friends will be held at 2pm Sunday, November 21st in Christ Church Cemetery, Lantz. Rev. Canon David Fletcher officiating. COVID protocols in place; proof of vaccination and ID are required.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the Bayberry Cottage and all staff of the Magnolia for the exceptional care and love shown to Thelma during her time there.
Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia or a charity of choice.
