Obituary of Dorothea Kaye Jordan
JORDAN, Dorothea Kaye “Doll” – age 89 of Dutch Settlement, passed away peacefully on May 13, 2022 in Cedarstone Enhanced Care, Truro. Born in Dutch Settlement she was a daughter of the late Harry and Pearl (Simpson) Hines.
Doll worked for Cara Operations for over 30 years. She also ran card parties for the church and bingo for the firehall for many years. She loved to feed people – nobody was allowed to leave her house hungry. Doll also liked to garden. Her biggest joy in life was her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Doll is survived by her children, Christine Brown, Wellington; Wyman, Dutch Settlement; Carolyn (Kirk) Myers, Lantz; Dirk (Tina), Dutch Settlement; seven grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; sister, Olga “Bess” Hines, Dutch Settlement; brother, John “Jack”, Musquodoboit; several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Gordon; siblings, Lorna, Iris, Nina, Joyce, Betty, Aubrey, Auley and Errold.
Cremation has taken place. A visitation will be held from 6-8 PM Wednesday, May 25th in Ettinger Funeral Home, 2812 highway 2, Shubenacadie. A graveside service will take place at 11 AM Thursday, May 26th at St. George’s Anglican Cemetery, Dutch Settlement. Rev. Patty McKenna officiating.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Cedarstone Enhanced Care for their care and compassion during Doll’s time there, especially the staff at Chapel Court. The family also would like to thank the staff at Northwood Homecare for the years they looked after Doll in her home.
