Obituary of Ronald Charles Cheaters
CHEATERS, Ronald Charles – age 94 of Antrim, formerly of Perth, Ontario, passed away peacefully on June 24th, 2022 in Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Born in Perth, Ontario, he was a son of the late Charles and Sarah (Powers) Cheaters.
At a young age Ron attended Oshawa Missionary College where he studied while working on a poultry farm. He joined the Royal Canadian Navy in 1945 where he was trained as an aircraft mechanic and worked on the Fairey Swordfish and later worked on the famous Avro Arrow. Ron continued his love for flying by achieving his private pilot’s license and continuing his career with de Havilland Canada. He later moved to Nova Scotia with his family to work on the fastest war ship at that time, the HMCS Bras d’Or (FHE 400) hydrofoil. He worked on the Model Q48 Dash 8 turbo prop with his good friend, Ron Fox. Ron was a devoted member of the Royal Canadian Legion. He then retired to Nova Scotia where he continued his mechanical knowledge. At any time you could find Ron under farm equipment at the Schuurman’s Dairy Farm or vehicles at his own home.
Ron is survived by his God-given son, who was born on the same birth date as Ron 50 years apart, Ronnie Jr.; son, Dale Walker-Cheaters; nieces and nephews, Linda Brown-Rhyno, George William Brown, Barbara Brown-Greener, Sean Brown, Jimmy Cheaters; former wife, Daphne McDermid; and partners, Betty Russel and Mary Dorey.
Besides his parents he was predeceased by his wife, Evelyn (Paul) Cheaters; partner, Dora Isenor; siblings, Cecil, Clara, and Carl.
A visitation will take place beginning at 12 PM on Thursday, June 30th at Ettinger Funeral Home, Shubenacadie, with a funeral service following at 2 PM, Pastor Paul Vanderkooy officiating.

A reception will take place after the service, burial to follow at St. Paul’s United Cemetery, Antrim.
