Obituary of Trevor Jessom Mombourquette

Trevor Jessome Mombourquette age 16, Lantz. Passed away in hospital on July 28^th, 2022. He was born in Halifax on September 18^th, 2005. He is survived by his father Paul, mother Collene, brothers Thomas, Tyler, Trent, Turner, and sisters Lacy and Lisa.

 

Trevor always had a smile on his face. We never knew if he was thinking of something funny or thinking of something mischievous to do. Whenever he was up to something mischievous, he always took his brother Trent along with him. We guess it was more fun to get into trouble with someone instead of on his own.

 

Trevor loved going for truck drives with his brother Tyler, having the windows down, and looking for large puddles to drive thru to splash the truck. Tyler always thought of fun things to do with Trevor.

 

He enjoyed weekend trips to Tim Hortons with his brothers Tom and Trent. If they were really lucky cousins, Molly and Mac might be there to serve them. Thomas and Trevor enjoyed many sledge hockey sessions together.

 

With his sister Lacy; Trevor enjoyed bowling, playing video games, and card games. Trevor and his brother Turner played many video games together, with Halo being their favorite.

 

Trevor had a beautiful bond with his twin sister Lisa. She always looked out for her "Teddy" and made sure everything was okay for him at school. He loved watching her play hockey. She is a goalie. On one particular “bad” outing for Lisa, Trevor’s humor comes through with the words “Does she know she is supposed to stop the puck?”

 

Trevor enjoyed going to school; he had terrific EAs. Mrs. Dailey, Maxine, Doreen, and Maureen. Trevor made many friends while going to school; Caelan, Liam, Kevin, and Jessie. Jessie would often meet up with him to play with remote control trucks. Liam came over many times to play video games and hangout. Trevor enjoyed watching movies and painting crafts with his friend Caelan. Mom will always remember the two of them howling at the wolves on their last outing together.

 

Trevor’s best friend was Austin. They had fun bowling, playing sledge hockey, making gingerbread houses, wheelchair racing, and going trick or treating together.

 

Trevor had many aunts, uncles, and cousins who will miss him. He was very close to Uncle Loren; they enjoyed playing superheroes together and looked forward to their visits to Burger King.

 

Trevor loved his Grampie. Grampie was "the best". He played army men, 7-up, go-fish, and watched movies with Trevor.

 

Trevor loved to hang out with his Dad. Together they enjoyed playing cards, bowling, having campfires, and going through the car wash. Trevor was a big fan of monster trucks. He and his Dad went to see them whenever they were around, and they also loved to watch the monster truck freestyle on TV.

 

Although Trevor had many challenges during his life, we never heard him complain. He was concerned about our feelings, so he always remained positive. He was very appreciative of things that were done for him and for the places he went. He found wonder in things that you or I would take for granted. He would always tell his EA’s at middle school “watch out for the bad guys,” but Trevor was definitely one of the good guys.”

 

Trevor and his Mom had a special bond. They did a lot together, and every night when she would tuck him in, she would say “Goodnight Buddy. I'm happy that you are my boy.”

 

Sixteen years is much too short!

 

The family would like to thank Dr. MacNeil, The VON ladies… Anita, Tammy, Kim, and Donna. All the doctors, nurses, and staff of the IWK that we visited over the years.

 

We would also like to thank the Lantz Volunteer Fire Department, our neighbor Dee, the doctors and nurses at the Cobequid, and the Halifax Infirmary Hospitals for their efforts to try to save Trevor.

 

Lastly, to our family, friends, and neighbors, thank you for your support during this very difficult time.

 

Below, we have reprinted what was written and sent to us by Trevor’s middle school teacher Mrs.Zurawski as we feel she definitely knew Trevor.

 

My heart is heavy knowing that Trevor has left us. I was his teacher for three years and before that taught his brother Trent for 3 years, so I got to know the Mombourquette family fairly well. Trevor came from a family of deep love, respect and kindness and all of those qualities shone through him and all his siblings. Trevor always had a smile on his face. Negativity was just not in him; not part of his DNA. He was always positive and caring and always eager to please others. Even though I was in the role of “teacher”, Trevor taught me a great deal.

 

Trevor showed me the true meaning of patience as he calmly waited for things that weren’t always accessible for him.

 

Trevor showed me endurance and determination as he participated in everything he possibly could.

 

Trevor showed me the power and the gift of a smile, as he showed delight in everything around him.

 

Trevor showed me how infectious kindness can be as he continuously showed compassion and care for everyone around him.

 

Trevor taught me that life is good and all the moments in it are treasures to hold in hearts.

 

So, thank you for being MY teacher Trevor and sharing part of your life with me and all the people around you. You will always be in my heart.
