Mrs Manning - My name is Barb Chorel and I recently retired from the Accounting team at Lions Foundation of Canada Dog Guides. During my 17 years there, I had many occasions to reach out to Dave and it was always such a real pleasure. He was a very kind and lovely man, and one of my favourite Board members. I was very saddened to hear of his passing, and I hope you and the family can take comfort from all of these wonderful tributes and your many memories. Dave will really be missed.

Hi Maggie….Tomma Jean here. I just wanted to say how sorry I am to hear of David’s passing. Although our paths haven’t crossed for many years, I well remember when you first met David, he was so personable and friendly. We had so much fun together in our “growing up” years. Then life happened and so much changed. I just want you to know that I am feeling for you and your family.

Condolences from the Shubie Lions Club. A wonderfull caring member of the great Lions Community has passed, to a greater place to Serve. I met Dave through Lionism many years ago. I have appreciated Dave's complete dedication to his Community and especially his devotion to the ideals of Lionism that he so religiously followed. His example of caring to all that knew him was inspiring. He has left us way too soon. I wish I had taken the opportunity to express my admiration of his model of, giving to others, directly to him, before his passing. He will be so sadly missed. God has another Angel. I am shocked and deeply saddened to hear about Dave’s passing. Working alongside Dave in shipping at Pharmasave was always an adventure. There were ao many teachable moments that ended with Dave shaking his head and giving me that “look” and then laughter, so much laughter and teasing. Which made most days light and bearable in such busy times at “the back door” He was a mentor and always made you feel that you were important and you could do anything in life that you set your mind to.
Thinking of all of you.
May the memories you share together bring a smile to your face and warmth in your heart at this difficult time.

I was so sad to learn of David’s passing. Mary was a good friend of mine growing up, and through her I got to know her much older brother, although in Liverpool all our families were well known. He and I were lab partners in high school, lots of laughs and fun and not so much academics. David was like his parents, full of smiles and hearty laughter. Your tribute photo brings a smile. My sincere condolences to you all.

Dear Maggie and Family,
I was shocked and saddened to hear of Dave's passing. He was a great story teller and I have many fond memories of him from our days working at Elmsdale Guardian together. He was a fellow foodie and we often shared our love of food by swapping recipes and new restaurant referrals after his geocaching trips with Maggie and friends. If I was lucky, he often snuck me a sample of a new recipe Maggie had tried. I often joked that I was his favorite work wife, which he would reply with" probably" because I nagged him the most. He always spoke with love when sharing stories about his kids or Grandkids. His dedication to the community, whether it be the Lions Club, Dog Guides of Canada or his "Movember" fundraising efforts ( where one year Karen M and I got to shave his moustache ) always were important to him. Sending you all love and hugs.....Crystal Edgett

I worked with Dave at Guardian Elmsdale for a very long time. He was always happy to share stories about everything, antics of his youth, geocaching trips with Maggie, family trips far and near and special family gatherings with all that delicious food that Maggie would prepare, with some of his favorites like those scotch eggs.
I think one of my favorites memories with Dave is the retirement party that we struggled to have for him due to covid restrictions, once he finally retired for sure, In the stock room we hung balloons, pennants, old photos and had a few cards and gifts. We had a bbq in the back parking lot. Invited employees old and new to stop by, even a few of the delivery drivers were eager to bang elbows and wish him all the best.
To Dave's family and close friends I share you shock and sorrow. And hope you know that you are thought of and held close in our heart.

So sorry to hear this sad news. Dave was one of a kind. Never down and always joking. I got to participate in 3 or 4 of his New Years Day canoe runs. Sipping rum on the ice choked Shubenacadie River between Elmsdale and Lantz seemed like a good idea at the time. But it was the entry fee to get back to the Manning household for the best New Years brunch ever. Had never tasted pepperoni soup before or since. Scotch Eggs were my favourite.
Dave will be missed by everyone who knew him.
