Obituary of Carilyn Anne Worthen
WORTHEN, Carilyn Anne – It is with sadness that we announce the death of Carilyn Anne Worthen on November 18th, 2022 in Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Born in Halifax, she was a daughter of the late George and Margaret Graham. Carilyn is survived by her loving husband, Edward Worthen, son, Mark Worthen and grandchildren Christopher (Emily Sullivan), Kristi, Christian, Jessie, Eamon, Calum and Makaylee and great grandson Luca. She was predeceased by her parents and daughter Kellie Worthen.
She and Edward met in their late teens and have been inseparable ever since. They built a life filled with things they loved to do together. They would be celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary this year.
Carilyn and Ed frequently traveled in their RV to attend Blue Grass jams and Country Festivals all over Nova Scotia and beyond where they jammed with friends. She was very outgoing and known as the life of the party; she was loved by all and her presence will be missed in the Blue Grass community.
She had a long and fulfilling career working for Hershey’s chocolate, formerly Moirs and always brought home sweets for her loved ones. She stayed connected with colleagues long after her retirement. She could always tell when recipes had been changed and classic treats tasted just slightly different.
Carilyn was a lover of animals and nature. She had many pets through the years and always fed the birds and critters in her yard. She was very passionate about horse racing and was involved in the industry for over 40 years and drove to Truro weekly to attend the horse races.
She was very proud of all of her grandchildren; friends always mention how much she talked about them. She was excited to recently celebrate the milestones of turning 80 and becoming a great grandmother; a title she truly deserved.
Carilyn was a dedicated and caring wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Her kindness, generosity, quick wit and sense of humour were greatly appreciated; many will miss her humorous Facebook posts. She would always put lovely comments on her friends and family member’s posts. She was loved by all and will be missed.
