Shelley some of my favourite memories are the Friday nights when we would all get together in Grannies kitchen and play guitars and sing our hearts out. We had lots of laughs and the best of times. I will always treasure these special memories. Deepest sympathies and hugs to you Allan, Benji, Jamie, Jonathan and families.

I met Shelley 30 years ago at the age of 16. One of my earliest memories is of being picked up by her in our work truck from high school (with another friend and co-worker, Ivan) as it closed early. Throughout the years she was always willing to help beyond the typical work routines. As I grew from a teen to an adult, she was always there to offer advice on subjects that I didn't dare discuss with my parents. I thought of her as a 2nd mother in many respects. She also provided a voice of reason on many occasions when I've been angered; she was a calming influence. I'm sure Shelley tried to show me how to not take life so seriously. I will always remember Shelley and her laugh, and I'm positive that Little Fluff (a feral cat at work who she named) and I will cross paths with Shelley again. May she rest in peace...

Shelley and I worked together for 30 years, since the beginning of our company. She was a permanent fixture at Himmelman Elastomers and a crucial part of our extended family at work. I feel privileged to have known her. One of the first faces to greet you every morning; whether on the shop floor, making sales calls or doing clerical work, Shelley was always upbeat about the task at hand. Many of our clients and suppliers got to know Shelley on a personal level over this time as well, and have commented on how pleasant and helpful she always was. Along with our working relationship, Shelley, Allan and family have spent much personal time with us as well. Whether a simple dinner, visits to the cottage or traveling abroad with my wife Joanne, Shelley will be sorely missed by our entire family. May she rest in peace.

A tribute to Shelley Young;
It’s not often when someone passes, after the tears, you smile and give a chuckle at the memories accumulated over time. Shelley and I formed such over the thirty years we worked together. We travelled to Toronto to see a live performance of THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA. We had to walk back because I refused to take a taxi. When we opened the hotel room door Shelley ran over and hugged the bed and then I promptly got a gentle reminder on how I had put our lives in danger by walking the alleyways of Young Street.
Then we went to Sorento, Italy with a woman’s travel group to take part in a cooking course. After an afternoon tour we all met in the hotel courtyard where Shelley was convinced to sing “House of the Rising Sun”. While she was singing, all the restaurant’s patrons were in the courtyard clapping. Shelley wasn’t even phased.
That was our Shelley; kind, funny and not afraid to take on anything new. The customers and the Himmelman family, even canine family, loved her.

I am so deeply, deeply saddened to learn of Shelley’s passing. It just seems like yesterday when we all flew to NYC to sing in Carnegie Hall…
It was my delight to have known Shelley both as Benjie’s mum and also as a fellow musician. She was an amazing singer and added so much to our East Hants Community Chorale - Shelley knew the true meaning of “Altos rock!”. However, she was not only blessed with the gift of music: she was loving, funny, wise, and understanding beyond measure. Please accept my most sincere sympathies for the unspeakable loss of this most precious person, and may her memory forever be a blessing to you all.
In friendship,
Martha Healy

For Shelley's family and friends,
I have fond memories of Shelley and her beautiful voice as she sang with "Good Company" during their performances at assisted
living facilities, the Grand Lake Community Hall, and at Larry's 70th birthday party. Her friendly and cheerful personality will always
be remembered along with the occasions when she "baby sat" for our son Jason.
Please accept my most sincere condolences.

Hi Aunt Shelley, I just wanted to let you know that I am thinking of you. It makes me very sad knowing that you are in any kind of discomfort. While I have been thinking of you though, I have been reminded of many happy moments with you. Some of my fondest childhood memories include sitting around a campfire at your house, listening to you Dad and Uncle Allan singing classic songs. It was around the fire that I remember you sticking up for me when I was trying to convince my Dad to let me get a puppy… I remember you taking me and Emily to Grand lake and jumping off the rocks with badger. I always loved staying at your place for New years, being spoiled with food and playing games with you and Uncle Al. I remember you secretly moderating mine and Emily’s first sips of booze, we were very thankful for having such a cool Aunt. I’m fondly remembering the last time we were together even, where you helped me dress for a Woodstock party. These are just a few of many happy thoughts that you’ve given me that I will carry forever. I love you Aunt Shelley, thinking of you <3. - Owen

Allen, Benjie, Jamie and Families,
I am shocked and saddened to hear of Shelley's passing! I met Shelley when I was 13, the twins were babies and I would babysit for her. I always thought of her as my very own big sister... she taught me how to drive.... she was waaay cool!! A few years later our bond of friendship was sealed forever, Shelley was there for me when I needed a big sister the most and for that I was truly grateful. Over the years we moved on, but never really that far apart. It didn't matter how long we went not seeing each other.. She always made me feel special whenever we saw each other again.
I will never forget you Shelley... Rest Easy My Friend!!
