Shirley was the oldest cousin of my Mom's (Gertrude) on her father's side. Oh and Shirley loved my Medada (Peter Barlow). I think they saw a lot of themselves in each other. If you didn't know she was a Barlow, her stubbornness would let you know :-) But she was also a fierce protector and very determined in what she believed. When Medada died, her and Hughie came and cooked breakfast for the family, for those that stayed up at the wake and any guests that came by. Loads and loads of food. They wanted to make sure our bellies and hearts were nourished. Whether I saw them in Indian Island or if they came to visit in Tobique or even later when I moved to Ottawa, both Shirley and Hughie treated me with lots of caring. Making sure I had enough groceries or if I needed anything for my apartment. They were both really good friends with my Uncle Danny and Aunt Kay when they lived and worked in Ottawa. Connections on both sides of my family <3 Much Love, Prayers and Condolences to her Family...my Family <3 <3 <3
