Obituary of Kenneth Myles Fenton

FENTON, Kenneth Myles - It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Kenneth Fenton on March 7, 2023, in The Sagewood Continuing Care Facility, Lower Sackville. Born on October 13, 1927, in Country Harbour, he was the son of the late Hadley and Hazel (Josey) Fenton.  

He was a carpenter by trade, beginning his career with Harley Worth, and continuing with Blunden Construction and Sun Construction.  During his time at Blunden’s, he had the opportunity to go out to Sable Island to help build a tri-plex for staff who lived on the island.  He talked often of his time there and always wanted one more trip to the island.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, going out in his boat, bowling, playing his guitar and violin and doing his crossword puzzles.  He was very proud of his grandsons and enjoyed spending time with them as often as he could.   In addition to his family, he was very proud to have built our family home.

Ken is survived by his children, Karen (Wyatt) Conrod, River John; Susan (Andrew) Robertson and Steven (Pam), both of Dartmouth; grandchildren, Colin (Kylie Felix) and Ryan, also of Dartmouth.  He is also survived by his sister, Phyllis Jennings, Halifax; sisters-in-law, Audrey Hales, London, Ontario; Della Webber, Enfield; Janet Fenton, Sackville; several nieces and nephews. 

Beside his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, May, the love of his life; sisters, Audrey Langley, Doreen Webber, Daisy Sutherland; sister-in-law, Betty Webber; brothers, Lloyd and Cecil; brothers-in-law, Wilfred Langley, Malcolm Jennings, Bill Webber, Bob Webber, John Webber, Murray Hales; nephews, Claude Langley and Brent Sutherland.

A celebration of life will be held on Monday, March 13, 2023 at 4pm in Ettinger Funeral Home, 860 Highway 2, Elmsdale. Pastor Tim Slaunwhite officiating. Coffee and tea to follow service. Burial to be held in the spring.

The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to the excellent and caring staff at The Sagewood for taking such good care of Kenneth during his short time there.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Alzheimer’s Society of Canada.
