Obituary of Donald Harry Bond

BOND, Donald Harry – age 86 of Upper Nine Mile River, passed away on March 18, 2023 in Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Born in Upper Rawdon, he was a son of the late Harry and Muriel (Custance) Bond.

Donald was employed with Municipal Construction Company for 20 years but found his real passion for life when he purchased a dairy farm from his brother, Jim and became the proud owner/operator of Bonderosa Farms in Upper Nine Mile River for the remainder of his life. Donald was a John Deere man. He also loved to dance. He faithfully read the Chronicle Herald from front to back every single day. He enjoyed his monthly card games with his good friends.

Donald is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Jean (Lantz); daughter, Krista Kempster, Lower Sackville; son, Gregory (Amy), Upper Nine Mile River; grandchildren, Jacob, Halifax; Jaime, Ottawa, Ontario; step grandchildren, Lindsay and Faith; sister, Mary Withrow, Windsor; sister-in-law, Elsie Bond, Upper Rawdon.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by brothers, Carl, Lloyd, Robert, James, Gordon; sister, Marjorie.

Visitation will be held from 6 – 8 PM on Wednesday, March 22, 2023, in Ettinger Funeral Home, 2812 Highway 2, Shubenacadie. Cremation to follow. A funeral service will be held at the same location at 2 PM on Friday, March 24^th, 2023. Rev. Kim Curlett officiating. Interment to follow in Upper Rawdon Cemetery.
