Obituary of Robert Norman Ettinger
ETTINGER, Robert Norman “Bob” – age 69 of Milford, passed away on March 25, 2023, at home. Born in Maitland, he was a son of the late Norman and Verna (Mumford) Ettinger and was the youngest of 7 children.
Bob was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing and caring for his horses. Enjoying a sunset around the firepit with his family was one of his favorite pastimes.
Bob’s love of mechanics started in his youth building cars and racing. This hobby developed into a passion, and he went on to become a modest but skilled driver taking home dozens of titles. Bob was extremely resourceful and creative often “Bobifying” repairs and solutions as his family lovingly reflects. As a mechanic he always had the part and if he didn’t, he’d make it. A community fixture, Bob was quick to lend a helping hand with an infectious smile and generous heart. If you were close to Bob, you know he enjoyed a good joke and was often making mischief to share a laugh. His playful nature was best showcased in little moments with his grandchildren, with whom he took great pride and joy.
Bob is survived by his soulmate, Dawn (Angel) – in their life they were blessed to love 9 children and 12 grandchildren. In his passing, Bob was reunited with his son Trevor. Bob leaves behind countless beloved family members and friends that felt like family.
Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Ettinger Funeral Home, Shubenacadie. A funeral service will be held at 2 pm on Wednesday, April 5th in Faith Community Church, 29 Highway 14, Milford, Pastor Paul Vanderkooy officiating. Reception to follow.
Donations in Bob’s memory can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada.
