Obituary of Margaret Alice Sullivan
SULLIVAN (Harris), Margaret Alice – age 89 of Elmsdale. It is with great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Margaret on June 5th, 2023, in the QEII V.G. Site, Halifax. Born in Halifax, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Henrietta (Duff) Harris.
Margaret met the love of her life, Leonard and they were married in 1954. Together they built a home in Elmsdale in 1959 where they raised their four children.
Margaret was involved over the years with many organizations including TOPS, the Women’s Institute, Cubs (as a leader), Home and School and was also a lunch monitor. She was always ready to take on any administrative duties and never turned down a request for help. One of Margaret’s favourite pastimes was singing in both the church choir and in a local choral group.
She was a kind and gentle person who cherished the little things in life and took a firm stand when needed. Margaret had a saying for any instance with the most frequently used being, “It is what it is and it can always be worse.”
In Margaret’s later years, visits from family and friends and especially from her grandchildren and great grandchildren brought such delight to her days. Margaret will always be loved and missed by her family.
She is survived by her children, Keith (Vicki), Kim, Catherine (Howard), Mark; grandchildren, Matthew (Roberta), Nicole (Greg), Arlene (Mitch), Alyssa (Mitch), Jessica (Caleb), Craig (Molly), David (Lauren), Sean, Nicholas, Sarah; great grandchildren, Roderick, Lloyd, Fay, Owen, Abigail, Emily, Lochlan, Fiona, Garrett, Oliver, Ivy, James; sister, Lois; niece, Gail, and nephew, Wayne, who were both very special to her.
