Obituary of Darrell Flemming

FLEMMING, Darrell, 70 of Shubenacadie, passed away peacefully at home on Jan 24th. Born in Shubenacadie, he was a son of the late Geordie and Pansy Flemming. Darrell was very involved in the community, he was a former Deputy Chief of the Shubenacadie Fire Dept., he held many positions in the Lions Club as well as being a founder of the Shubenacadie Hay Days. He delivered mail on a rural route with his wife for many years. Darrell was an owner operator with Coastal Bulk Transport of Dartmouth. He was a bus driver and head mechanic for Colchester- East Hants Amalgamated School Board. He is survived by his son Dwayne, Truro; daughter Debi Shawn (Leslie) Barkhouse, Shubenacadie; grandchildren, Dwight Barkhouse, Deidre Manning (Dave Monk), AJ and Darren Flemming; , his pride and joy: great-grandchildren, Tegan and Shamus; brother Albert (Cathy); sister Coreen ( Francis) also his ''special children" Francine and Bert (Val) Flemming. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 43 years, Vivian (Glennie). Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 pm Monday at Ettinger Funeral Home, Shubenacadie from where funeral services will be held 2pm Tuesday January 28, Rev. Martin Reid officiating. Donations may be made to the NS Lung Association, the Canadian Diabetes Association or a charity of your choice.
