Obituary of Beulah Jean Smith
Smith (Andrews), Beulah Jean - The family of Beulah Jean (Andrews) Smith, age 74, of Shubenacadie are saddened to announce her passing on July 9, 2023, at The Magnolia, Enfield. Born in Upper Musquoboboit, she was the youngest child of Charles Reeves Andrews and Mary (Parker) (Andrews) Rutherford.
Beulah operated the telephone switchboard with her mother in Upper Musquodoboit before she was married. After that her focus was on raising her girls. She was an excellent mother, housekeeper and cook. She loved trying new recipes especially desserts. She excelled at crocheting and when able kept beautiful flower gardens. Beulah loved children and the elderly. She was an avid reader. She loved a good party with dancing and singing. Beulah enjoyed many years of camping at Shaw’s Lake and then gave up camping for a backyard pool which she loved. She liked to play a good game of Bingo. Leroy and Beulah went on several trips including out West, Florida and Newfoundland returning from each with lots of stories and memories.
Beulah’s memory will live on in the hearts of her husband of 55 years, Leroy; her daughters, Lori (Darrell) and Susan. She is also survived by her sister, Joanne Canning; mother-in-law, Muriel Smith; sister-in-law, Janice (Don); brothers-in-law, Neil (Shelly), Victor (Sheri), Lorne (Lorelei); sister-in-law, Bev; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by her infant son Basil Reeves; her father; her mother; father-in-law, Carl Smith; sisters, Barbara and Betty; brothers, Victor and Tommy.
A special thanks to the staff on the 2nd floor of the Colchester East Hants Health Centre and the staff of The Magnolia for the excellent care and compassion shown to her and to us her family.
As per Beulah’s request, there will not be a formal funeral service. Family interment will take place at Sandy Hill Cemetery, Belnan on Friday July 14 at 3:00 pm followed by a Celebration of Life and time to share memories and condolences with her family at 6:00 pm- 8:00 pm held at Ettinger Funeral Home, 2812 Highway 2, Shubenacadie.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Beulah to the Sandy Hill Cemetery, Belnan.
