Obituary of Borden Albert Oakley
OAKLEY, Borden Albert – age 84 of Enfield, passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side in Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro on August 4th, 2023. Born in Enfield, he was the son of the late Richard and Beatrice (Aulenback) Oakley.
Borden was the first career firefighter in the Enfield Volunteer Fire Department and an active member for over 60 years. He enjoyed dances held at Nine Mile River, bingo, music, wrestling, camping and the occasional poker game and giving out treats to the kids on Halloween. Borden also liked to attend community suppers.
He is survived by sister, Mildred Laybolt; many nieces and several cousins.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by sister, Marion Thompson.
Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 AM on Friday, August 11th, 2023, in Ettinger Funeral Home, 2812 Highway 2, Shubenacadie followed by burial in Sandy Hill Cemetery, Belnan. A reception will follow in the Enfield Fire Hall, 273 Highway 2, Enfield.
