Obituary of Preston James Perry

PERRY, Preston James, age 92, of Upper Nine Mile River, passed away September 22, 2023 in the Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro.   

Born in Roseway, Shelburne County, he was a son of the late Samuel and Odessa (Snow) Perry. 

Preston was a long-time farmer and participated in many ox-pulls over the years. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Preston was a sharp card player…who had to be watched closely. He helped organize and MC-ed the monthly jamborees in the Upper Nine Mile River Hall, something he was very passionate about.  

He is survived by his wife, Marie, children, Nancy, Ruby, Phillip (Sandra) and Cindy (Greg); grandchildren, Aimee, Joe, Alex, Charlene, Matt, Josh, Rachel and Erica; great- grandchildren, Nick, Jordan, Lucas, Sam, Max, Melody, Chloe, Jaina, Carter, Jade, Olivia and Taryn; sisters-in-law, Mildred, Rhoda and Muriel (Herbin); several nieces and nephews. 

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Mitchell. 

Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8pm Wednesday in the Ettinger Funeral Home, Shubenacadie, from where a funeral service will be held 11am Thursday, September 28, Rev Beth Mattinson officiating.  Burial to follow in Sand Hill Cemetery, Upper Nine Mile River.  

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to World Vision Canada.
