Obituary of Helen Joyce Gallagher

GALLAGHER (CARTER), Helen Joyce – 1931-2023 - age 92, passed away on October 19^th, 2023, at the Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Born in Lower Maccan, she was a daughter of the late Clayton and Florence (Peck) Carter.

Helen graduated from Provincial Normal College and taught school for 7 years before moving to Saint John, N.B. She and her husband, Winston, moved to Lower Economy in 2004 to live full time in what was once their summer home. She enjoyed being a homemaker and cherished her role as a mother.

Helen is survived by her son, Bruce; brother, Sherman (Cathy) Carter; sister-in-law, Sharon; brother-in-law, Cecil; several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents she is predeceased by her husband, Winston; son, Brian; sister, Joan; brother, Arthur.

Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Ettinger Funeral Homes, Shubenacadie and Elmsdale.

Celebration of Life will take place 2-4pm Sunday, October 29^th at the Lower Economy Recreation Centre, 3323 Hwy 2, Economy.

Donations may be made to the VON or the Colchester East Hants Hospice Society.

The family would like to extend thanks to the nurses and staff of both the Emergency and the Palliative Care Units of the Colchester East Hants Health Centre for their care and compassion.
