Obituary of George Edward Ambrose

AMBROSE, George Edward, age 81, of Lower Selma, passed away on November 28, 2023, surrounded by family, in the Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro.  Born in Harmony, Kings County, he was a son of the late George and Amanda (Hollett) Ambrose.

 

George was a longtime employee and foreman at Eastern Fence, Dartmouth.  He was an avid race fan, followed the Earnhardts in NASCAR and actually raced his own stock cars at the Onslow Speedway back in the day.  He always kept himself busy and enjoyed helping the people in his community.  George was a kind man who proudly lived independently until his last days.

 

He is survived by children Mandy McLellan, Truro; Dana (John) Ambrose, CBS, NL; Sandra MacMeekin, Truro; Kelly (John) Tanasichuk, Moncton, NB; grandchildren Nicholas, Laura, Megan, Brittney, Eben, Lucas and Samantha; great grandchildren, Blay, Hunter, Kodi, Gage, Ryker, Cohen, Everlee, Kaleb, Georgia and Lucas; sisters, Helen Doucette, Phyllis MacDonald, Barbie Playter (Steven), Betty (Burton) Baker; brothers, Everett (Mary) Ambrose, Billy (Doreen) Ambrose and Terry (Kelly) Ambrose; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. 

 

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Carol, brother, James Hollett, sister, Joan Townsend.

 

Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Ettinger Funeral Homes, Shubenacadie / Elmsdale.  There will be no visitation or service by his request. Memorial donations may be made to the Maitland Volunteer Fire Department at the Frieze and Roy General Store, Maitland.
