Obituary of David Thomas Osborne

OSBORNEDavid Thomas, age 64, of Lantz, passed away suddenly on December 11, 2023 at home.  Born in Chester Basin, he was a son of the late Thomas and Mary (Eldridge) Osborne.

 

David lived in several places, had a variety of jobs and even owned his own business in his lifetime, from driving taxi, driving children to school who had disabilities and couldn’t go on the bus, to working at Graves Island and in a call center, plus other jobs.  He was part of and held various positions within the Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 88, the Chester Basin Fire Department, the Bridgewater Fire Department (2000-2007), and Scouts Canada.  He had been a Past Master in the Norwood Masonic Lodge, # 135, New Ross and a member of the East Hants Community Chorale.  Dave enjoyed golfing when he was able and was a fan of the TV show, Chicago Fire.  He had also been a faithful and active member of the Riverview United Church in Elmsdale, and then the St. Matthew’s Presbyterian Church in Elmsdale.

 

He is survived by his son, Cody MacDonnell, stepdaughter, Amanda Bayberry, sisters, Lynn Swinamer and Mary Ann Daw.

 

A Celebration of Life will be held at 4:30pm Sunday, December 17, 2023 in St. Matthew’s Presbyterian Church, Elmsdale, Rev. Beth Mattinson officiating.  Burial will take place at a later date.  

 

Memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice.
