To the Dillman Family, we are very sorry to hear of Robert's passing. We haven't seen him for awhile. It was always great to have a conversation at the track or a watering hole. Always so good to see him. Such an easy going person. He will surely be missed by all.

Robert is unforgettable. It's been a few years since I last saw him. But he crossed my mind often. I was always happy to see him. He was kind and funny and so smart! We had wonderful and silly conversations over a few beer many times. He was one of those guys you hoped to run into because he made you feel welcome. You could tell he cherished his family. He will be missed dearly but always remembered with love and a fond smile. My deepest condolences to his beloved family.

Dear Uncle Robert, one of my earliest memories of you was when I was about 4 when we lived in Thompson, MB. As most kids that age, we didn't really pay attention to the adults because we were too busy being kids. But something happened in Nannie's house that made me understand who you were. I'm not sure what led up to this but the voices in the kitchen started to get louder and it turned out to be an argument over coffee. From what I can recall, Nannie was trying to give you a cup of coffee and you were adamant that you were not going to drink any and said if you were going to have coffee it would be right out of the jar. Of course, I was sitting there quietly assessing the dynamics in the room (as much as a 4 year old could) and found myself eager to see you eat the coffee right from the jar. Sure enough, you did! Everyone tried to get you to stop but 3 or 4 spoonfuls you decided for yourself that you had enough. I have to say that that was the moment I understood what being serious was. I knew from then on that you have to stand your ground and I never got the chance to thank you for that inadvertent lesson in life.
Serious! That's how I would describe you. When it came to your family, you were serious....seriously in love with your family. Your work was taken seriously and I don't think anyone who worked with you would disagree. Your sense of humour, well, I never knew if you were joking or your were serious so there's that too. You brought a force with you through life that will leave an indelible mark on everyone that you touched through your life. When your name is mentioned, the automatic response is "Oh, I remember when Robert...." and the stories go on and on.
You were/are loved by so many and you will be missed by many. You are irreplaceable on so many levels.
Tanya, Jeff, I am deeply saddened by your loss but I know Robert will live forever in one way or another through you and around you. He was a lucky man to have you two there for him.
xoxo

I only knew Robert through a job, he and his son did for us. We had a few "deep conversations" over a couple weeks of time and it was clear from day one he was a good man. We were total strangers to him(at first) but from the outset of that job he was truly concerned for how everything would turn out for us...a man of fairness and truth, I wish to convey to his family our heartfelt condolences. We may have only been customers at first glance but you certainly felt like an old friend with his concern for you as a person. May he Rest In Peace.

My thoughts are with your family. It’s hard to lose a parent, a part of your heart is gone with them. Eventually tears will turn into smiles and laughter when you think of all the memories of your dad and all the good times. He was a legend in the community who nobody will forget.

Our sincere condolences. Robert was a good neighbour and always happy to help with loads of top soil or doing excavator work. His snappy wit was a pleasure over coffee at Robin's. We are both saddened that we shan't see him anymore in this life. May God grant his strength to all of you as you face the loss of one loved so dearly.

Our deepest condolences on the passing of your Dad.
Robert was so supportive and helpful with our lake development arriving early in the morning with his dump truck hauling his excavator. He would work all day going back and forth from his truck to the excavator without even taking a break for lunch, he had such a great work ethic.
When he spoke, you knew he was so proud of his children and grandchildren and will be remembered by anyone that knew him.

Tanya, your Dad and I grew a special connection in the too few years I got to know him, with me trying to give him as good as he gave:) He was quick-witted, sharp-tongued, and embodied amazing qualities to admire. He worked like few others, loved his family fiercely, and also knew how to have a good time. You, Jeff, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were by far his greatest accomplishment, a legacy of a life well lived. Much love to you all. Godspeed, Robert.
