BARR, Martha Ann – age 72 of Shubenacadie. It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Martha on May 8th, 2024, in Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Martha passed peacefully with her husband, John, by her side and surrounded by family. Born in Middle Musquodoboit, she was a daughter of the late George and Effie (Sibley) Bell.
Martha lived life for family, friends and special pets, Lochy, Harley and Festus. Martha, like her mom, was frequently found in the kitchen baking for John and her grandkids.
Martha had an incredible work ethic. For over 30 years, she worked as a social chemist and counsellor (bartender) at the Halifax airport. She had many stories of the people she met from all over the world who she entertained with her special blend of wit and caring.

For years she enjoyed her time at Sutherland’s Lake and more recently going camping, especially at The Walker’s Farm Annual. She was well known for her exceptional skills of knitting and crocheting. Every family baby has been welcomed with their very own “Wrappie blanky”. Martha was an avid reader with the latest Grisham at arms reach.
