This is terribly sad news. Gus was by turns passionate and compassionate but always a stalwart in collegial discipleship. The community will miss his grasp of pains and needs and his leadership in facing and dealing with them. I enjoyed eight splendid years keeping up with him! Lois and I send our prayerful best wishes to his family and friends.

I was in my first job out of University as part of the group that Bud Greene referred to in his memory. Gus was a very supportive and helpful colleague. He and Bonnie also welcomed us into their home on many evenings for fun get togethers. I’m a prairie boy but Gus taught me some great Maritime songs that I still remember. Rest in peace my friend.

Gus and I go back to his early engineering days. When he graduated from Tech as an Industrial Engineer in 1969 as I recall, I was setting up an Industrial Engineering Group at our company in Sarnia, Ontario. Along with others I hired Gus to join the group. One of the best hires I ever made. Gus took on responsible projects immediately and was liked by everyone he came in contact with. Outside of work the group developed strong personal relationships between all our families with lots of laughs and unforgettable sing songs with guitars, banjo uke and strong voices. I was so glad that following his engineering career he found his true calling in the ministry. I kept up with him over the years and valued his friendship. Rest in peace old friend
