Obituary of Maggie Morriss
Marguerite Kathleen Morriss
March 27, 1955 to August 10, 2024
Maggie passed away at the Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro, surrounded by her loving family, after a sudden and rapid decline in her health.
She left behind: Her devoted husband of 44 years Roger; two daughters Allison (Adam) and Krista (Eric); grandchildren Samantha, Cameron, Dawson, Jacob, Alora, and Avalon; great grandson Elias.
Siblings: brothers Greg Snair (Kim) and Tim Snair (Bonnie); sister Kim Lloyd (Dave); and two bonus sisters her family learned about as adults and gladly welcomed with open arms, Cheryl Simms (Guy) and Linda Reeves (Daryl); as well as her cat: Cleopatches “Cleo”
Maggie was so much more than just a loving wife and mother. As both a military daughter and wife, she had many different jobs around the world. She was extremely outgoing and everyone was drawn towards her care free and charismatic personality. She wore her heart on her sleeve and welcomed everyone into her home. She loved entertaining friends, and their home was regularly filled with laughter over delicious meals and card games that often lasted late into the evenings.
Maggie was a talented artist who loved working with her hands. She could easily spend hours in her garden, or making various crafts, from toll painting, to crocheting stuffed animals, to sewing quilts. She could create anything imaginable and shared selflessly.
Maggie and Roger retired in Stewiacke, Nova Scotia where she continued to play a big part in the community, sharing her knowledge and skills readily and easily. Some of the things she was involved in included the garden club, the knitting group, the local church, and teaching children how to crochet at the library.
Maggie’s family and friends were her greatest joy and she cherished them deeply. She was an eternal optimist, and strived to find the good side of all situations. She loved deeply, without condition; and had the patience of a saint (even when we didn’t deserve it).
She was a devoted wife and exceptional mother, instilling core values of kindness, generosity, compassion, loyalty, altruism and most importantly an excellent sense of humour. She had a deep love for Christmas and still believed in the magic of Santa Clause.
Her departure comes as a great shock and leaves a deep wound which is gravely felt by her family and friends. She will be missed deeply.
Cremation has taken place under the care of Ettinger Funeral Homes.
A Celebration of Life will be held at from 2-4 PM Saturday, August 17 in the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 70, 299 George Street, Stewiacke.
