Obituary of Kenneth Charles Ivey
IVEY, Kenneth Charles – age 59, of Lantz, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, October 27th, 2024, at the Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Born in North Sydney, he was a son to the Louise (Skinner) and the late William Ivey.
Ken and Nancy met in high school and six years later married in 1991. During their 39 years together, they had two daughters that he adored and was so incredibly proud of. The love that Nancy and Ken had for each other was undeniable and was forever strong.
Ken lived a life filled with tremendous kindness and service towards others. He was proud to have volunteered with the Lantz Fire Department for nine years, winning the Departments Fellowship award several times. He cherished the bonds and friendships he made with his fellow firefighters.
Over the years Ken made deep connections with his coworkers at the Bayers Lake Costco and the QEII food services.
Ken has always supported his wife and daughter’s passion for Dance. He did this by driving them to dance classes multiple times a week, making any dance prop they could imagine, taking his weekends to help out backstage at different dance events and working in the studio office. Ken was one of the ultimate dance dads not only to his girls but to all dancers who crossed his path backstage and at the studio.
Over the years Ken played on multiple men's and mixed leagues of softball. Most recently playing and supporting his team the “Fireballs”. The friendships he made at the ballfield are ones he treasured along with his love of the game.
Ken’s departure leaves an unfillable void in his loved one's lives, yet they find comfort in the memories and everlasting love they shared.
The family would like to thank all first responders that were involved, most of whom knew Ken and the family on a personal level. They would also like to thank the Truro hospital staff for the wonderful care and compassion they provided Ken.
Ken is survived by his loving wife, Nancy; daughters, Kenzie (Devin) and Morgan; his Mother Lousi; brothers, William Ivey (Linda), Darren Ivey; sisters, Pam Whittle (Pete), Tracy MacAulay and many nieces and nephews.
