Obituary of Elizabeth Ann Nevin

NEVIN, Elizabeth Ann – a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, godmother, aunt, and friend, who left us at the age of 72, on November 4th, 2024, at the Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Born in Kentville, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Elizabeth (Sack) Meuse.

A traditional woman at heart, Elizabeth found peace and strength in her spiritual practices, attending the Sundance each year and holding a deep respect for all religions. She was a proud member of the St. Anne's Sodality, where her devotion to her faith was reflected in her actions and service to others.

In her professional life, Elizabeth was a dedicated teacher and mentor, most notably as a retired Aboriginal Head Start educator. She spent many joyful years shaping young minds, always approaching her students with patience and care. Prior to this, she was the director of Little Eagles Daycare, a role that brought her great happiness, as she loved being surrounded by children and helping them grow.

At home, Elizabeth’s greatest joy came from the love and laughter of her family. She shared a deep bond with her husband of 52 years, Anthony Nevin, and loved spending time with their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Elizabeth enjoyed quiet moments playing games on her laptop, and watching Young Sheldon, but her true happiness came from the warmth of her family’s presence and the moments they shared together.

Elizabeth’s legacy of kindness, love, and community will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. She leaves behind a family that is forever grateful for the lessons she imparted, the love she gave, and the strength she demonstrated throughout her life. Elizabeth's soft-spoken nature, kind heart, and unwavering love for her family and community will be cherished forever. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten.

Elizabeth is survived by her loving husband, Anthony Nevin; son; Simon Nevin; daughters, Heather McDonald (Jason McDonald), Shirley Nevin, Elisa Nevin, all of Indian Brook; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents she is predeceased by sisters, Linda Meuse, Philomena Meuse; brothers, William “Yogi” and Joseph “Junnie” Meuse; grandson, Wyatt Ali Simon Nevin.

Visitation will begin at 3:00pm on Wednesday, November 6th, 2024, at the family home, 20 Dowie Road, Indian Brook. Until time of Funeral Service at 11am, Saturday November 9th, 2024, at St. Kateri’s Roman Catholic Church, Indian Brook. Father Phil Officiating. Burial will follow in the cemetery.
