Dear Nancy, Tony and the Rodgers Family
So sorry to hear of Billy’s passing, it’s been many many years since our paths have crossed but the childhood memories I have of Billy and myself will be forever cherished. The best years were living on Stairs Street and growing up as friends and neighbours.

Paula so great to hear from you, you bring back so many memories of our childhood on Stairs Street we were so rich and didn’t even know it! Thanks for reaching out ….maybe there is a Stairs Street in the sky and we can once again be neighbours without a care in the world,.

Once in a blue moon, you meet people that become friends forever. We met Dawn and Bill on their honeymoon, and have enjoyed spending time with them in Nova Scotia and here in Florida. Bill had more lives than a cat! He left us with memories being with him that will last forever, Bill was a bigger than life person who epitomized class and how to treat others. On that cruise, Dawn and Bill remarried on the Jolly Roger pirate ship, and in celebration after 1 or 2 Rum Punches, Bill mooned everybody on the Jolly Roger. Later that week, while Bill and I went back to the cabin early, Cathy and Dawn went to the Disco, and met Hans, the radio officer. At breakfast the next morning, Dawn told Bill and I about Hans dancing with Cathy. Bill suggested that he write a letter from Hans asking Cathy to meet him on deck later that night. At dinner that night , the maitre'd delivered the letter to Cathy at dinner. Cathy turned 3 shades of red, Then, Bill confessed it was from him. For the last 40 years, we have laughed about it. Bill, we will miss you, and someday we will be together again.

I worked with Bill for a number of years at The Halifax Shipyard. Actually one of the first people I met there in the late 80s. Bill was an excellent Ironworker and Shipbuilder. It was a pleasure to know him. My sincere condolences to his family and friends. He will be missed.

Saddened to read of Billy's passing, hey guys I remember that pest on Stairs Street, pretty hard to sneak in or out of the house on your mother when he was home. Although I haven't seen you all for years please know that you are all in my thoughts and prayers at this time. Love to all.

So sorry to hear of Bills passing. I worked with Bill at the shipyards and got to know a great person inside and out. Yes he was definitely a prankster and took extreme pleasure at it. I’ll always be grateful for his advice and help at times when needed. My life was made better for his passing through it.

Sending our heartfelt condolences to Dawn and the family. Bill will be sadly missed and when we think of family and he was just that… family and friend to so many. We have so many wonderful memories of get togethers, dinners, Canada Day and great times hosted by Dawn and Bill. Their home was always so welcoming and everyone enjoyed the great times. So many lovely boat rides, BBQs and times at the lake. I loved Bill’s silly antics and practical jokes. His warm smile and kindness will be missed. Love and hugs, Tara & Mike Payne

So saddened to here about Billy. I am thankful for the times spent with Billy and Dawn, family and friends at the lake. There was always a group eating, boating, swimming and much laughter. Billy was always at the helm of the pontoon, laughing as he looked for a good spot for some of us to have a pee! Smooth sailing Billy - love you, Mikki
